What We Do

Professional Development-Be and Be's workshops can accelerate your professional development and enable you to reach your school's performance targets. Workshops will consist of innovative on-site, online, and blended solutions that are customizable, aligned, and differentiated to meet the needs and goals of your educators.

Classroom Management will consist of creating a process by which teachers and schools create and maintain appropriate behavior of students in the classroom settings. The purpose of implementing classroom management strategies is to enhance prosocial behavior and increase student academic engagement. Be and Be believes teaching effective classroom management principles work across almost all subject areas and grade levels. When using a tiered model in which school-wide support is provided at the universal level, classroom behavior management programs have shown to be effective for 80-85% of all students(Brophy 2006).

Classroom Engagement Activities will engage students deeply in the joy of learning. Create a lively, dynamic classroom in which students are excited to learn and have the drive to keep exploring until they succeed. This workshop explores the four questions behind student engagement and shows how to set the stage for positive answers to each of them:
a.How do I feel?
b.Am I interested?
c.Is this important?
d.Can I do this?
Teachers will learn how to lay a positive foundation that predispose students to learn. Take home practical, research-based strategies to spark interest and make learning personally relevant. Discover how to build the confidence that give students ownership of their learning.

Retention/Intervention Ideas provide methods for assessing the needs of at-risk students. Class discussions focus on outreach, retention and best practice approaches for addressing issues plaguing urban students. Instruction will provide techniques to identify signs of student detachment in the classroom setting. Participants will explore strategies to engage hard to reach students using a variety of teaching methods. Discussion will include an assessment of visual aids and hands-on practices to appeal to all learning styles and senses. Techniques examined will support an enriching and inclusive learning experience.

Curriculum Instruction and Design based programs yield better outcomes for urban youth. This session provides a comprehensive examination of research-based curricula designed to assist urban teachers in delivering high quality programs.
